Mount Elgon National Park is located in the Eastern part of Uganda near Mbale and is shared between Uganda and Kenya west and it’s the longest extinct volcano in the Africa and stands at 4,321 meter above sea level. Here the soil, sprinkled with waterfalls including the breathtaking Sipi Falls, is very lush, producing forest, grassland and moorland habitats suitable for hiking and simply enjoying nature every naturalist should try out this hike.
Our Company representative will pick you from the airport and depending on the time of arrival you can directly head to Jinja or you may spend the night in Kampala. If your flight arrives in the morning, your advised to change money this day, and also get familiar with the city. You can therefore visit some of the exciting places in Jinja town with the help of our driver guide. The places may include the source of the Nile and Bujagali Falls. Dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort , Lindsay Cottages or Cassia Lodge in Kampala BB.
After early breakfast, you will enjoy visiting Mabira Forest for an interesting forest walk. After lunch the group will enjoy traditional dances by the local women. There are many options this day, such as swimming, boat rides, floating on the mighty Nile. In the evening return for dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort.
After early breakfast leave for Mt. Elgon in Eastern Uganda. Transfer to Sipi Falls. After lunch, hike to the falls and then return to your camp next to Sipi Falls for dinner and overnight.
Early morning breakfast, then start the hike following the Kapkwata Trail. A scenic hike through the bamboo, heath and moor land gets you to the Piswa camp at 2850meters, Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the mountains.
Hike up to the rim of the caldera through beautiful columns of lobelia Elgonensis. Visit the hot springs and Suam Gorge before ascending to the hunters cave Camo 3850m.
Morning breakfast, then ascend to the top of the caldera to the Wagagai peak at 4321m, Descend thereafter through the Jackson Summit and the Jackson pool to overnight at Mude Camp 3500m.
Early morning, descend though the Sasa trail to Budadiri then travel to Mbale town. Depending on your flight time we might spend a night at Mount Elgon Hotel or transfer to Kampala to prepare for your departure. Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge or Lindsay Cottages.
Depending on the time of departure, you may visit places which might have been missed on arrival. This may include the museum, Kasubi Tombs, National Theatre to buy crafts, and many more with the help of our driver/guide who will later take you to the airport for departure back home.
