Day 1: Arrival for the Mountain Rwenzori Climbing Tour

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport for the 10-day Mountain Rwenzori climbing tour. Meet, greet, and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Rwenzori Mountains National Park, Kampala, to Fort portal

Depart from Kampala or Entebbe and journey to western Uganda. Arrive in Fort Portal, a town nestled in the shadows of Mt. Rwenzori, offering breathtaking views of volcanic landscapes. Explore nearby hills with crater lakes and lush scenery. Check into your accommodation in Mountain Rwenzori National Park and enjoy stunning mountain vistas.

Day 3: Start your climb

On our 10-day Mountain Rwenzori climbing tour, you will be transferred to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park office at Nyakalengija. Meet your team, including porters, professional guides, a chef, and security personnel. Begin your trek from Nyakalengija (1,648 metres), passing through local communities, bamboo forests, and thick bushes. Cross the Mahoma River via a wooden bridge. Reach Nyabitaba Hut (2,651 metres), your first stop on the climb.

Day 4: Nyabitaba to John Matte camp

After a restful night at Nyabitaba Hut (2,651 metres), you’ll continue your journey. The trail leads through lush vegetation, moss-covered trees, and babbling streams. As you ascend, you’ll notice the landscape transitioning from bamboo forests to heather zones. Arrive at John Matte Camp (3,505 metres), where you’ll spend the night. Day 5: John Matte to Bujuku camp

Today’s trek takes you higher into the Rwenzori Mountains. The trail winds through rocky terrain, and you’ll encounter bogs and alpine vegetation. Pass by the Bigo Bog, a unique ecosystem with giant lobelias and other endemic plants. Reach Bujuku Camp (3,962 meters), found in a valley surrounded by towering peaks. Bujuku is known for its breathtaking views of Mount Baker, Mount Speke, and Mount Stanley which are spectacular scenes while on your adventure in Uganda.

Day 6: Bujuku to Elena camp

The trail becomes steeper as you ascend towards the high alpine zone. Cross the Bujuku River and navigate rocky sections. Climb up to the Scott Elliot Pass, which offers panoramic vistas of glaciers and snowfields. Descend into the Kitandara Lakes Valley, where you’ll find the serene Lake Kitandara. Arrive at Elena Camp (4,541 metres), your base for the Margherita Peak summit.

Day 7: Summit Day: Margherita Peak (5,109) metres

An early start is essential for the final push to the highest point in the Rwenzori Mountains. The ascent involves crossing glaciers, navigating crevasses, and using crampons. Reach the majestic Margherita Peak (5,109 metres), standing proudly on Mount Stanley. Revel in the awe-inspiring views of neighbouring peaks, glaciers, and the vast expanse below. Descend carefully back to Elena Camp, where you’ll celebrate your remarkable achievement of your 10-day Mountain Rwenzori climbing tour.

Day 8: Descend to Nyabitaba Hut
