Day 2. First Gorilla Trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will get ready for a briefing by the guide about what to carry and pack, the Do’s and Don’ts before tracking the apes. You will then be allocated to a group of not more than 8 people plus a team ranger and assisting trackers. You may also need a porter to help you carry your backpack as it may get so tiring as you trek through the hilly thick Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Each group will visit one Gorilla family.

The Gorilla Trekking activity is a strenuous activity that is physically challenging and involves going through thick forest undergrowth where paths shall be made using pangas and machetes. Given the strenuous nature of the activity, there are several breaks along the way that shall allow you to catch your breath. It takes 2-4 hours to reach the exact location of the habituated mountain Gorillas. You will be allowed to spend only 1 hour with these humble giant apes. Rangers shall be feeding you with information about the forests and the gorillas while clearing the shrubs and bushes for a better view of the gorillas.

Get ready to descend back after one hour with the gorillas, the rangers shall find you a comfortable area in the jungle for you to enjoy your packed lunch. You will be transferred back to your lodge for relaxing. Or one can take a guided community walk.
