Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Jinja

Depart from Kampala and head east to Jinja. En route, stop at Mabira Forest, a tropical forest teeming with primates such as monkeys, bird species such as the Great Blue Turaco, and colourful butterflies. Continue through scenic tea and sugar cane plantations to reach Jinja. Visit the source of the Nile, where the world’s longest river begins its journey to the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 2: Rafting on the Great River Nile

After a hearty breakfast, brace yourself for an adrenaline-pumping adventure: white water rafting on the mighty Nile River. Navigate through eight exhilarating rapids, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and abundant birdlife like the White-faced Whistling Duck. Post-rafting, indulge in a delicious barbecue feast. Day 3: Quad biking, Kayaking and horseback riding

Today, explore the outskirts of Jinja with a thrilling quad biking excursion. Wind your way through nearby villages, Engage with the local Basoga people, known for their warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage. Learn about their traditions, music, dance, and way of life, soaking in the picturesque landscapes and immersing yourself in local life. Day 4: Transfer to Mount Elgon

Depart Jinja and head further east to the enchanting Mount Elgon National Park. En route, pay homage to the majestic Sipi Falls, where water cascades down terraced cliffs, surrounded by regenerating forests and vibrant flowers. Explore the area’s crater lakes and discover hidden caves. Watch out for the different wildlife species, like the Black and white colobus, and waterbucks, among others. Bird species include the beautiful Great Blue Turaco and the rare Red-chested Owlet. Overnight near Sipi Falls, lulled to sleep by the soothing sound of rushing water. Day 5: Hike to the summit of Wagagai

Rise early for an exhilarating challenge: a hike to the summit of Wagagai, the fourth-highest peak in East Africa. As you ascend, be rewarded with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and several wildlife species such as the Guereza colobus, blue monkeys, baboons and a variety of bird species such as the endangered Lammergeyer among others. Day 6: Explore Mount Elgon

Delve deeper into the wonders of Mount Elgon National Park. Visit the intriguing Tewei Hill Caves, marvelling at their geological formations. Day 7: Return to Kampala with a Stop at Sezibwa Falls

On Day 7 of your Eastern Uganda Tour, as you journey back from the captivating Mount Elgon National Park, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Sezibwa Falls. Sezibwa Falls is not only a natural wonder but also an important cultural and spiritual site for the Baganda people. It is marked by sharp-edged rocks and the soothing sound of water flowing down steep ridged stones. The falls are a result of water squeezing through narrow openings in rocks and dropping at great speed (17 meters) into a large pool that is about 14 meters deep. After passing Kayanja Trading Centre on the highway, turn right onto Murram Road and drive for another 1.5 km before you reach the falls.

Activities at Sezibwa Falls Resort include nature-guided walks, bird watching, primate walks, camping, boat riding, and mountain biking.  You will transferred to Kampala or Entebbe for departure.
