This 7-day Uganda-Rwanda Wildlife Safari with Journeys Uganda includes tracking primates and wildlife viewing in both Uganda and Rwanda. Beginning in Entebbe or Kampala, the safari travels to Uganda to see mountain gorillas and Rwanda to see golden monkeys. It also includes game viewing and bird watching in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Boat trips on the Kazinga Channel and Lake Bunyonyi, a visit to the Batwa Community in Bwindi, nature hikes, and other activities are all included in the tour schedule. There are excellent photo opportunities in both Rwanda and Uganda on this trip.

Detailed Itinerary of the 7-day Uganda-Rwanda Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Park (5-7 hours)

After landing at Entebbe airport, travel to Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Park, stopping along the way for pictures at the Equator, lunch in Mbarara, dinner, and spending the night at Buffalo Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Following an early breakfast on this second day of our 7-day Uganda-Rwanda Wildlife Safari, we will go on a morning game drive to look for African lions, buffalo herds, elephants, antelopes, giraffes, leopards, zebras, and many other species. After lunch, we’ll head out for a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel, which is well-known for having the largest concentration of hippos in all of Africa. Be prepared to see enormous Nile crocodiles as well as 611 different bird species, including Pied Kingfishers, African Skimmers, African Spoonbills, Great White Pelicans, and Water Thick-Knees. You shall be transferred back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Ishasha game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (4-6 hours)

After breakfast on this 3rd day of the 7-day Uganda-Rwanda Wildlife Safari, embark on an early morning game drive in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is home to tree climbing lions, antelopes, etc and numerous bird species such as the Marsh Tchargra, White-headed Barbet, Brubru, Common Scimitarbill and the Orange-breasted Bush-shrike and then Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, afternoon walk to Batwa people

We shall wake up very early in the morning and head to the park headquarters with our packed lunch for a briefing on how the activity will take place on this 4th day of the 7-day Uganda-Rwanda Wildlife Safari. You shall be advised on what to carry, how to behave and whether to hire a porter. You will track the gorillas until you meet them and spend one hour with them. After lunch, you will visit the Batwa people for an authentic cultural experience of the first dwellers of the Bwindi forest. You shall be transferred Ride for a Woman for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Rwanda (7-9 hours)

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we shall cross the Uganda-Rwandan border to Ruhengeri, have lunch, and transfer to Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for dinner and overnight on this day of the 7-day Uganda-Rwanda Wildlife Safari.

Day 6: Golden Monkey trekking, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi (Uganda) (1-2 hours)

Gather for a briefing at Kinigi Station, then head out for a golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park. After lunch, cross the border between Uganda and Rwanda through the land of rolling hills to reach Lake Bunyonyi, a lava-dammed beauty. Spend the night at Arcadia Cottages.

Day 7: Boat ride, drive back to Kampala (6–8 hours)

Enjoy an early morning boat ride to visit different beautiful Islands of Lake Bunyonyi. The lake has 29 islands, of which five are the most popular. Later, drive back to Kampala for departure and that marks the end of our 7-day Uganda-Rwanda Wildlife Safari
