A great diversity of birds, including 10 of Uganda’s 26 globally threatened species and five critically endangered species, may be found in this ancient jungle. Prime locations like the Buhoma waterfall and the Mubwindi swamp trails in Ruhija offer breathtaking vistas and opportunities to see rare and endemic species. Detailed Itinerary of the 8-day Birding Tour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Day 1: Arrival and birding Entebbe environs
A Journeys Uganda representative will meet you at the airport upon your arrival. When we arrive, we will bird the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, looking out for the Bat Hawk, Great Blue Turaco, Ross’s Turaco, Black Bishop, Bare-faced Go-away Bird, Various Kingfishers, and Weavers, among others. Dinner and overnight at Papyrus Guesthouse
Day 2: Birding Mabamba and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
We will have an early morning breakfast and travel to Mabamba wetland on the shores of Lake Victoria. The elusive Shoebill can be found in the Mabamba Swamps early in the morning. Other bird species we see en route to Lake Mburo National Park for the night include some papyrus endemics, African and Lesser Jacanas, White-faced and Fulvous Whistling Ducks, Blue-breasted bee-eaters, Carruthers Cisticola, Black-Chested, Brown, and Western Banded Snake Eagles, several gull and heron species, and other water bird species. We will make a quick visit to the equator to enjoy an educational discussion and experience the equator. Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Rock Lodge

Day 3: Birding Lake Mburo National Park and Transfer to Bwindi
On day 3 of the 8-day Birding Tour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, we have a game drive and observe wildlife and various bird species. Red-faced Barbet, Rufous-bellied Heron, White-headed Barbet, Coqui, Red-winged Francolins, Blue-spotted Wood Dove, Brown Parrot, Barefaced Go-away Bird, Harlequin and Blue Quails, Common Button Quail, Greenwood Hoopoe, Common Scimitarbill, Blue-napped Mousebird, Blue-breasted and Shining-blue Kingfishers, Lilac-breasted Roller, African-grey Hornbill, Nubian, Buff-spotted, Brown-eared, and Grey Woodpeckers, Trilling, Stout, Tabora and Wing-snapping Cisticolas, Red-necked spurfowl, Black-bellied Bustard, and so forth. Day 4: Birding Buhoma
After breakfast, we will pack our lunch and visit the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Some of the interesting species that we keep an eye out for at Buhoma are the Black Bee-Eater, Dusky Tit, Bar-tailed Trogon, Brown-caped Weaver, Yellow-billed and Yellow-spotted Barbets, African and Black-and-white Shrike Flycatchers, Common Stonechat, Brown-throated and Chestnut Wattle-eyes, Apalises, Equatorial Akalat, Slaty Flycatcher, White-bellied Robin-Chat, Black-throated Apalis, Mountain Masked Apalis, Grey Apalis, and Chestnut-throated Apalis,
Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Cape Wagtail, Grey-capped Warbler, White-chinned Prinnia, Green Hylia, Short-tailed Warbler, White-tailed Antithrush, Grauer’s Warbler, Grauer’s Rush Warbler, White-browed Crombec, Olive-green, and Grey-backed Camaropteras, among others. You will transferred back to your Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Birding Ruhija
On this day of the 8-day Birding Tour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, we will have an early breakfast and pack our lunch. The adorable African Green Broadbill, the handsome Francolin, the strange weaver, the Shelley’s and Dusky Crimson-wings, the Stripe-breasted Tit, the Rwenzori Batis, the White-browed Crombec, the Purple-breasted Sunbird, the Sharp’s Starling, the Mountain Masked, and the Rwenzori Apalis are all on our list of targets today as we bird Ruhija. Day 6: Birding Mubwindi marshes
On this day of the 8-day Birding Tour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, we will be birding at Mubwindi Swamp all day with our picnic lunch, We will keep an eye out for the following species: Waller’s Starling, Stulman’s Starling, Montane Oriole, Black-billed and Black-necked Weaver, Brown-capped Weaver, Red-headed Malimbe, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, and White-tailed Blue Flycatcher. Numerous Bush-Shrike in Colour, Mountain Illadopsis, Rwenzori Nightjar, Northern and Pink-footed Puffback, Ludehr’s Bush-Shrike, Lagden’s and Doherty’s Bush-Shrike, and Bocage’s Bush-Shrike.
Day 7: Birding to Entebbe
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Entebbe. On your way back, keep an eye out for various bird species. Dinner and overnight at Papyrus Guesthouse.
