Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport and Drive to Volcanoes National Park
Your assigned English-speaking guide and our customer service specialist will meet you at Kigali International Airport and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. This trip will present you with breathtaking landscapes, which are exquisitely styled and distinguished by a mosaic of rolling hills with verdant vegetation, giving this remarkable country its nickname, “a country of a thousand hills.” You will go on a Kigali city tour, where you will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kigali Market, and Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you will learn more about the history, customs, and traditions of the country. Later, transfer to Volcanoes National Park; check in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park—Gorilla Trekking Experience
Get up early on your 6-days Rwanda primate adventure safari, have breakfast with a packed lunch, and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the conduct of the gorilla trekking experience. Head into the forest with your assigned ranger guide and start searching for mountain gorillas. This forest walk will involve rough and tough terrain, especially during heavy rains when trails tend to be slippery. This trek may take about 45 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas and the pace of the trekkers. Upon seeing these mountain gorillas, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you are assigned one hour with these creatures as you learn their social ways of life, feeding, and how they take care of their babies. Return to the park offices, relax, and get lunch, then later drive back to your lodge for leisure, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park—Golden Monkey Trekking
On your 6-Days Rwanda Primate Adventure Safari, rise early in the morning, have breakfast, and get ready for the day. Your safari guide will take you to the park information center for a pre-trekking briefing regarding the guidelines for Golden Monkey trekking. To find these golden monkeys in their natural environment, armed rangers will then take you into the bamboo jungle. Other primate species include the blue, red-tailed, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. You will spend an hour studying and learning about the habits and lifestyle of these fascinating golden monkeys as they constantly switch between trees. After you have critically examined their behaviors, retire and head back to the lodge to relax as you share stories about the experience. Have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Following your 6-days Rwanda primate adventure safari, have breakfast, then drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, roughly 5-6 hours southwest of Volcanoes National Park, after enjoying a leisurely breakfast. Before arriving at Nyungwe Forest National Park, you will experience the breathtaking and thrilling hilly landscapes with verdant flora as you discover the splendor of Rwanda, “a country of a thousand hills.” Have lunch en route, relax, and continue your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. After checking into your reserved lodge, you will embark on a guided forest walk where you will see scenic tea plantations. Return for dinner at the lodge and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park
On your 6-days Rwanda primate adventure safari, wake up early and drive to the park information offices after breakfast to get a briefing on the guidelines for the trekking activity. One of the greatest places to go chimpanzee trekking is Nyungwe Forest National Park, where visitors discover the magnificent beauty of these intelligent creatures. Start your forest walk with armed ranger guides searching for mountain gorillas, which could take 2–5 hours. On seeing these chimpanzees, you will spend an hour studying them and their lifestyle, not forgetting to take memorable photos. You will have the opportunity to see a variety of primates during this adventure, including black and white colobus monkeys and blue and red-tailed monkeys. Have dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6: Drive and transfer to Kigali
