8 Days Rwanda Primates Safari, Explore the land of a thousand hills and the primates that grace these hills from the small but safe clean Kigali city to the large and rich biodiversity of the ancient Nyungwe forest. Crown the trip with the explicit encounter with the mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes national park and the multitude of primates that share this scenic beauty with them.

Day 1: Kigali Arrival

Depending on your time of arrival our representative will meet and greet at the Kigali international airport and take you on a city tour of the historically and culturally rich Kigali city. The small garden like city hosts a couple of attraction which include the genocide memorial site at Gisozi crafts markets and lots of other memorial centers. Overnight at city Hotel

Day 2: Kigali to Nyungwe

Preceding breakfast is a transfer to Nyungwe forest, one of the largest afro montane forests remaining in Africa. Enroute we will stopover at the royal palace in nyanza and at the National Museum known as one of the best ethnographic museums in East and Central Africa located in Huye district, if time allows, arrange a performance of Intore dance troupe, before continuing to Nyungwe forest, a 3 hours drive from Huye district. Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park

Early morning breakfast and we assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing before we enter into the large afro montane forest that extends up to 1000 square kilometers. It is the largest afro-Montana forest in East and Central Africa and one of the most ancient, dating back to before the Ice Age. The forest is highlighted with a number of trails with each of them presenting different displays of primates and one particular 10km red trail leads to large troupes of chimpanzees and another to the docile colobus monkeys

Day 4: Primates walk in Nyungwe forest National Park

Enjoy a rewarding breakfast, and off gain we are to the spectacular montane Nyungwe forest with the variety of the trails one could walk on the 2.5km blue trail a great display of primates and birdlife or the trail that passes through the territory of habituated troop of 400 colobus monkeys. During the rainy season a troop of chimpanzee often moves into this area as well.

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National park

After the breakfast drive towards the northern part of Rwanda along a good winding road which takes us through the thousand hills, along mountain summits, and through tea plantations to the volcanoes national park home of the few remaining mountain gorillas along with a multitude of other primates.

Day 6: Volcanoes National Park

After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the national park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers before; trek through the tropical Virunga rainforest in search of the rare mountain gorilla. Carry your lots of water, study walking shoes, water-proof warm clothing, sun-screen, insect-repellant and a hat. A no-flush camera is recommended because you will come up close with these gentle giants. The park ranger guides will make your 3 – 6 hour trek both educative and enjoyable. The excursion in a thick rain forest and the interaction with the mountain ape, gives a wonderful experience in life

Day 7: Primates watch in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, depending on what you desire you may go out Golden monkey trekking or visit the dian Fossey grave as well as explore the other primates that live within the volcanoes national park

Day 8: Departure

Return to Kigali after a hefty breakfast in time to catch your flight back home.
