What is the best time of the year to engage in Tourist activities in Volcanoes National Park?

June through August is the dry season when Volcanoes National Park offers the best opportunities for tourism activities. The likelihood of bright weather increases throughout these months, adding to the whole experience. The trails are also drier during these months, making trekking easier and more enjoyable. One of the most popular activities in the park, gorilla trekking, is also more accessible during this time. It’s crucial to keep in mind that since this is also the busiest time of year, gorilla trekking permits may sell out fast and lodging costs are usually higher. The months of January, February, and September provide an excellent mix of fewer tourists and favourable weather for those who want to avoid the crowds. However, permits are easier to obtain and lodges may offer cheaper rates during the wet season, which peaks in March, April, October, and November. On the other side, the wet season brings more demanding conditions with slippery routes.
