Day 1: Arrival

Arrival for the Mabira Rain Forest, Lake Mburo National Park Walking and Volcano Climbing At Mt. Sabinyo, Mt. Gahinga, Mt. Muhavura, Safari

Day 2: Walking In The Mabira Rain Forest

Mabira Forest is the only large forest in the bio-geographical zone of the Lake Victoria Crescent thus providing the only watershed for this already water stressed area. The watershed feeds the streams that flow into L. Victoria and R Ssezibwa and also provide sources of water for the neighbouring communities. A hike here will only be limited by our imagination we can chose to do the different trails and stay here the whole day. Overnight at the Luxury Mabira Rain Forest Lodge or Cassia Lodge in Kampala.

Day 3: Transfer To Lake Mburo National Park

Today we transfer to Uganda’s only savannah park which can be explored on foot. Lake Mburo National Park (LMNP) is a very special place; every part of it is alive with variety, interest and colour. LMNP contains an extensive area of wetland. The park harbours several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi and buffaloes. Unique bird species some of which we shall search for enroute to our lodge either at Mihingo or stay at Arcadia Cottages.

Day 4: Walking Safari And Game Drive

The nature trail offers the visitor a chance to admire nature on foot. Visitors have the opportunity to walk in the circuit at their own pace in company of an armed guide. A walk to the nearby salt lick is a highlight platform. A strategically located wooden plat-form offers a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one time while they lick the salty soil. The observation point is strategically located in such a way that close observation can be done without distracting the animals from their salt lick. A walk in this park is always rewarding and may last for three to four hour. Late in the afternoon we shall do a boat ride to have great views of hippos and crocs. Back to our lodge for dinner and over night stay.

Day 5: Transfer To Kisoro

Day 6 To 10: Volcano Climbing And Optional Gorilla Safari

There are three hikes here and we shall choose those of our interest or do all of them: -MT. SABINYO (3669m) meaning ‘Old man’s teeth’ Hiking time 8 Hours return 14 Kms.

This volcano offers one three peaks to climb. However the best is peak three which offers breathtaking sceneries in Rwanda, Uganda and Congo. To be specific the peak offers you an opportunity to be in the three countries at the same time. -MT. GAHINGA (3474m) meaning ‘small pile of stones’ Time 6 hrs Return -MT. MUHAVURA (4127m) meaning ‘The Guide’ Distance 12 Kms Time 8 Hrs round trip.

Being among the highest of the peaks, it acts as a guide. Hiking to the top offers the best views in the country. Once at the top hikers are rewarded with views of other virunga volcanoes, Lake Edward in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi and the peaks of Rwenzori Mountain.

The hike requires at least two days. The first day you will camp at the base of the volcano and the next day you hike to the peak. You have to bring your own gear.

Another optional hiking activity here is Cave exploration

Day 11: Transfer To Bwindi

Depart Kisoro and drive through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside an area also known as the Switzerland of Africa with its terraced hillside and winding roads to Bwindi. Overnight at Resort or Lake Kitandara Tented Camp. FB

Pythons are often observed in the crevices of the Bats Cave floor using the bats as a source of food. The cave is near the quaint Blue Lake and Hunters Cave. Other trails lead into the heart of the forest surrounding tranquil crater lakes and home to wild Chimps, other primates and many forest birds.
