Uganda Houses the Primate Capital of the World, Being the primate capital in Uganda and perhaps the entire world, Kibale Forest National Park which is usually encountered on any of our Uganda safaris has got great concentrations of primates in the whole of Africa. Kibale is among the closest parks to the Capital of Uganda and about 5 hours of driving from the country’s capital.

Kibale Forest National Park is home to 13 species of primate most of which are diurnal and a few nocturnal including; the most popular and highly targeted chimpanzees with a large community of over 1000 chimps of which close to 150 have been habituated and are open to tourist for Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda.

Besides Chimpanzees, Kibale has got other primate species with roots of Central African monkey and these include; The Grey Cheeked Mangabey the L’Hoest’s monkey plus the Red Colobus which are also highly sought after by many primate enthusiasts of our Uganda Primate Safaris.

Other common primates that are Kibale Forest National Park harbors include; Vervet, Black and White colobus, Olive Baboon, Blue monkey, the shy and nocturnal, Galagos – pottos and bush baby which make Kibale worth encountering while we plan for and with you a primate safari to Uganda.
