Day 1:  Arrival in Kigali

Detailed Itinerary of the 10-day Rwanda and Tanzania Wildlife Safari

Day 1:  Arrival in Kigali

Upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by a Journeys Uganda representative who will transfer you to your hotel for check-in and relaxation.

Accommodation: Four Points by Sheraton

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you will travel to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival at the park, you will begin by canoeing the river Mukungwa while bird-watching. You will later enjoy a cultural experience in the evening, which includes storytelling, singing, and dancing, among others.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Volcanoes National Park

Outside the park headquarters, the ranger guide will deliver a briefing before the gorilla trekking experience begins on this day of the 10-day Rwanda and Tanzania Wildlife Safari. He/she will brief you about the dos and don’ts and give you some advice on whether to hire a porter or not. After the briefing, follow your tour guide’s instructions to join a gorilla group. You may need to drive to the trailhead, depending on where the gorilla family is. You begin your walk out of the park after spending an hour with the gorillas. After picking you up, your driver guide will take you to the resort for relaxation after a long and tiresome activity.

You will go to the Gorilla Guardians settlement later in the afternoon. Catch up on Rwanda’s history and culture. Try weaving and shooting a bow and arrow, among others. After that, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 4:  Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Kigali

You will wake up early in the morning to embark on a golden monkey trekking experience in the Volcanoes National Park. Just like gorilla trekking, you will be allowed to spend only one hour with the golden monkeys upon locating them. After the exciting golden monkey trekking experience, you will be driven back to your lodge for lunch and then transferred to Kigali

Day 5: Departure to Arusha

After breakfast on day 5 of the 10-day Rwanda and Tanzania Wildlife Safari, you will be transferred to the airport for departure to Arusha. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by a Journeys Uganda representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Arusha for check-in.

Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

You will arrive in time for an afternoon game drive until late in the evening when you check in at the spectacular Serengeti National Park, in which you will have packed your picnic lunch. The campsite is relocated to the region where the migration is taking place, depending on the season you visit. If it is not the great migration season, you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 & 8: Exploring the famous Serengeti National Park

Over the next few days of the 10-day Rwanda and Tanzania Wildlife Safari, you will explore the expansive grasslands of the Serengeti. To take part in an early-morning game drive, you will have to get up early. Predators may still be hunting before going to bed for the day, and you will see animals grazing in the stunning morning light. You can choose to bring lunch to eat at one of the many picnic locations in the Serengeti, or you can go back to your lodging for a prepared lunch.

You’ll go on a game drive after lunch. Cheetahs can also be seen on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when the temperature is not too hot, so keep an eye out for lions after sunset. Crocodiles can be spotted sunbathing on the riverbanks, while hippos can also be observed in the larger pools and rivers.

Day 9: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

To arrive in time for a picnic lunch on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, you will leave for the Ngorongoro National Conservation Area after breakfast. You will then take a game drive in the afternoon at the Ngorongoro Crater. There are more than 25,000 animals in this area. With the opportunity to observe the big five, zebras, and wildebeests, it is regarded as one of the top game-viewing locations in the world.

Day 10: Transfer back to Arusha and departure.

After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Arusha for departure. This will mark the end of our 10-day Rwanda and Tanzania Wildlife Safari.
