Detailed Itinerary of the 11-day Uganda Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Arrival for 11-day Uganda Rwanda Safari
Arrival for the 11-day Uganda Rwanda Safari at Entebbe International Airport. Meet and greet, you will be transferred to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Papyrus Guest House.
Day2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Leave Kampala in the morning and travel to Mburo National Park in the southwest. For photography purposes, it would be ideal to pause at the equator before making the delightful journey to Lake Mburo National Park, home to zebra, impala, Uganda kob, and many other species. On the way, you’ll stop for a game drive where you can see all of those species and more. A boat excursion on Lake Mburo in the afternoon will reward you with views of water birds, hippos, crocodiles, and buffalo, among many other animals. Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Rock
Day 3: Lake Mburo – Queen Elizabeth National Park
On this day of the 11-day Uganda Rwanda Safari, you will take a nature walk in the morning before departing from the park. During your game drive en route, you can spot more animals than you might have missed the day before. You’ll be welcomed at Queen Elizabeth National Park with stunning views of Ankole’s plains and evergreen plantations as you go there. As soon as you approach the park, you will proceed on an en-route game drive and witness various species, including elephants, buffaloes, Lions and monkeys. Take a launch cruise in the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon to see a range of bird species that will be rewarding for birdwatchers, as well as reptiles and other wildlife like hippos. Day 4: Queen Elizabeth Game drive and Chimp tracking
On this day of our 11-day Uganda Rwanda Safari,in order to keep up with the early risers, you will have an early morning game drive during which you will be rewarded with views of several species, including lions, leopards, bushbucks, hyenas, and many more. After a late breakfast, return to the lodge and unwind. Following lunch, you will take a ride to Kyabura Gorge to go on a tracking expedition of chimpanzees and other primates, including baboons and monkeys. The wonderful apes frolic in the fruiting forest throughout this thrilling adventure will sanctify you. Dinner and overnight at Pumba Safari Cottages. Day 5: Game drive and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast in the morning, you are scheduled to visit Lake Bunyonyi via the Ishasha region, where you will go on a wildlife drive and witness a variety of birds and lions that climb trees. Proceed towards Kabale, sometimes known as the “Switzerland of Africa.”
Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi Cultural Tour and boat ride
Following your delectable breakfast, you will go on a cultural walk around Lake Bunyonyi, which is home to numerous villages on this day of our 11-day Uganda Rwanda Safari. You will travel to see the Batwa tribe, sometimes referred to as the pygmies, who trek from the Rwanda Mountains to the market to sell their produce. Enjoy a canoe ride on the lovely Lake Bunyonyi, where you can take in the picturesque views of the surrounding islands and terraced hills.
Day 7: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Rwanda
You will go to the Rwandan border and enter the country after breakfast. Travel through picturesque scenery to Kinigi, the site of the genocide memorial. Dinner at Muhavura Lodge and overnight stay.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking Adventure
Along with your packed lunch and hiking equipment, you will head to the park headquarters early in the morning to receive a briefing on what to do and what not to do when among gorillas. Proceed for the most thrilling and unforgettable forest adventure. It can take you two to six hours to encounter the incredible apes because this will pass through dense foliage, muddy terrain, and uneven surfaces. Spending up to an hour with the gorillas will pay off handsomely despite the physical nature of the work. Go back to your lodge to unwind, have dinner, and spend the night.
Day 9: Dian Fossey’s Tomb Hike and Boat Trip on Lake Kivu
You will walk to the Karisoke Research Centre in the morning. Dian Fossey founded it and is buried there. She spent many years studying and protecting mountain gorillas. You will discover a great deal about the behaviour and history of the gorillas. Drive to Gisenyi’s Lake Kivu in the afternoon for a boat ride that offers views of the surrounding hills and islets. Unwind on the stunning beach that borders the lake as you enjoy the 11-day Uganda Rwanda Safari. Overnight stay and dinner at the Lake Kivu Serena hotel.
Day 10: Transfer to Kigali
Following a leisurely breakfast, you will travel to Kigali, where you will have a tour of the city and stop at the museum, marketplaces, and genocide memorial centre, among other locations. While you wait for supper and your overnight stay, unwind at your hotel.
Day 11: Departure
The leaving day is set aside for today. You will be driven to Kanombe International Airport in time for your journey to your next location following a leisurely breakfast and, if it is early, lunch. This will mark the end of our 11-day Uganda- Rwanda Safari.
