Day 5: Do Mountain Gorilla Trekking and an evening Cultural encounter
On your 6 days Gorilla Trekking Experience in DR Congo and Rwanda, your driving guide will take you to the park headquarters in the morning after a filling meal so that you may attend a seminar on proper gorilla trekking etiquette in Volcanoes Park, which will take place from 7:30 to 8:00 am. At the park headquarters, you will meet other hikers and be split up into groups of eight, each of which is permitted to trek with a single habituated group of mountain gorillas. You will be given a lecture before hiking into the lush bush in search of mountain gorillas with a ranger guide. Since there will be a lot of hiking in the hills and sloping in the valleys during the two to eight-hour activity, physical fitness is required.
When you eventually point your little eyes directly into the large, round eyes of the mountain gorillas, the tiresome procedure of gorilla trekking is rather stunning. Once you have finally met the gorillas, you will get an hour to spend with them watching them play, eat, and search for their babies. It is mandatory for you to keep a 7-meter distance from the gorillas while taking pictures and to turn off your camera’s light. After exactly one hour, you will return to the starting point and make your way to your lodge to unwind and have a late lunch. Following lunch, you will go on an evening cultural exchange with the locals in the Volcanoes National Park area.
You will get a flavour of the locals’ distinct culture and customs through this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage with them in their natural setting. You will get a warm welcome from the village residents as honoured guests upon your arrival. You will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay following cultural refreshment and entrainment.
