5 Days Best of Rwanda Gorilla and Akagera Wildlife Safari: The 5-days Rwanda gorilla and Akagera wildlife safari starts and ends at Kigali International Airport, Rwanda. Akagera National Park and Volcanoes National Park are the two main stops on this amazing adventure across Rwanda, the country of a thousand hills, home to amazing animals and stunning landscapes. In addition to touring Volcanoes National Park, where mountain gorilla trekking adventures are offered, visitors are expected to witness the most breathtaking flora cover, including savanna grassland and woodland. Visitors can experience primates, particularly the endangered mountain gorillas, and other species like mammals, birds, butterflies, and plants during these five-day Rwandan gorilla trekking and Akagera wildlife safaris. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
On the first day of your 5 Days Best of Rwanda Gorilla and Akagera Wildlife Safari, our company representative and your driver guide will pick you up from your Kigali hotel or lodge, or directly from the Kigali International Airport. You will be driven through the breathtaking wilderness of the land of a thousand hills to Akagera National Park. You will be served lunch at the resort, depending on when you arrive, and then go on an evening game drive to see lions, elephants, zebras, and impalas, among other wildlife. Have dinner at the lodge and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and afternoon Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Enjoy an early breakfast on the second day of your 5-day Best of Rwanda Gorilla and Akagera Wildlife Safari; after that, you will be taken from your lodge for an early morning game drive to see more wildlife, including the majestic elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, birds, butterflies, and the breathtaking vegetation cover. Expect to see the big five mammals grazing in the verdant savanna grassland. Following the game drive, have lunch at the lodge before taking an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you can take in the refreshing air and observe a variety of wildlife along the lake’s shores, including crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, impalas, hippos, and various water birds. Have an evening game drive, head back to the lodge for dinner, and have an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On your 5-days best of Rwanda Gorilla and Akagera Wildlife Safari, take your early morning breakfast, and after checking out of the lodge, meet your driver and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, passing through a variety of stunning scenery along the way, including undulating hills, landscapes filled with flora, coffee plantations, and other features. Enjoy your en-route lunch and dinner at the lodge and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park—Cultural Tours
On day four of your 5-day best of Rwanda Gorilla and Akagera Wildlife Safari, make sure breakfast is served promptly, pack plenty of snacks and water, and be taken to the park headquarters of Volcanoes National Park for a briefing before starting an exciting gorilla trekking adventure in the park’s wilderness. You will be able to follow the trail into the forest after the briefing to look for habituated mountain gorillas that are accustomed to people. You will be allowed to observe mountain gorillas for an hour while learning about their unique behaviours, such as feeding, copulating, and nursing, among others.
After trekking gorillas, start a cultural excursion in the evening that includes a stunning Kinyarwanda traditional dance, drama, and cultural performance in the Ibyiwacu cultural hamlet. Spend the night at the lodge after dinner.

Day 5: Return to Kigali for Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge on your 5-day best of Rwanda Gorilla and Akagera Wildlife Safari. In Kigali, have lunch before being dropped off at the designated hotel in Kigali or at Kigali International Airport for departures.
