Day 1: Entebbe

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport. Meet our member of staff who will transfer you to your hotel for dinner and overnight either at Lindsay Cottages or Cassia Lodge. FB

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Today we start early and drive west to Lake Mburo national park. One of the most accessible parks of Uganda. We shall have stopover to look out for the Grey Cheecked Mangabey, another stop at the equator and In Masaka for lunch then proceed to the park. As we check in we look out for the Tantallas and Varvet Monkey, the olive baboon will be among the primates we look out for. Other mammals today will be the Zebra, eland, Impala, Cape Buffalo and the topi among others. Dinner and over night stay at Mihingo Lodge, Mantana Luxury Tented Camp or Arcadia Cottages. FB

Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This morning we do another game drive as we check out of the park looking out for what might have been missed the previous day. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in the evening. Overnight at Gorilla Resort or Lake Kitandara, for budget accommodation, Buhoma Community Bandas and Campsite are recommended. Day 4: Gorilla Tracking and other primates

Go gorilla tracking (subject to availability of gorilla permits at time of booking), carrying a packed lunch. You will be led and accompanied by ranger guides, trackers and potters who will carry your shoulder pack at a minimum of 15 dollars (which you will pay your porter after the exercise). You will then set off to the thick forest in search of gorillas. The terrain can be difficult, with steep slopes covered in dense vegetation that gives the park its name. In addition, the altitude of 5200+ feet means participants do need to be physically fit. The time taken to track the gorillas vary enormously, from as little as half an hour to as much as 8 hours before one returns from the forest. Difficulty, however, is not impossibility and coming face to face with the great primates is well worth it! An early return from the forest gives you an opportunity for a cultural performance or a village tour organised by the community in Buhoma (around the park) at an extra cost.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park and Tree Climbing lions

Depart early in the morning after breakfast for Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha an area which provides us with a chance to view the tree climbing lions. We later carry on looking out for primates like the Red Tailed, Varvet and L’hoest’s Monkey. For more chances of seeing the primates, we stay at Jacana safaris Lodge as it rest on the shores of a lake and a tropical rain forests with lots of primates.

Day 6: Chimp Tracking, primate walk and Launch Cruise along the channel

Visit the nearby Kyambura Gorge to track the fast moving and elusive chimpanzees, one of man’s closest relatives. The chimp population is quite mobile and viewing is unpredictable, however the walk in this “lost world” is nevertheless enchanting. Alternatively, time allowing go for a nature walk in the Maramagambo Forest. This forest harbors some unusual species -red-tailed and L’Hoest’s Monkey, potto, giant forest hog, pygmy antelope, and giant elephant shrew. You can also visit the bat caves and the blue lake. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which is especially rewarding for viewing a variety of game especially hippo, buffalo. We later do a drive back to our lodge for dinner and over night stay..

Day 7: Kibale Primate Park

After breakfast, head for Kibale National Park – a home to over 12 recorded primate species. These include chimps, red colubus monkey, grey cheeked mangaby, red tailed monkey and galagos. Check in Primate or Nature Lodges in time for Lunch. An afternoon forest walk is worthy an experience as we shall get an introduction to the primates of Kibale. FB

Day 8: Chimps and Primate walks

After Breakfast, go for chimpanzee tracking. Other primates include the L’Hoest’s, Red Colobus, Red-tailed, Olive Baboon, Gray-cheeked Mangabey and many others. In the Afternoon we shall visit Bigodi wetland which is managed by the local community. Here, we expect to spot the Elusive Sitatunga Antelope in the Papyrus and several other interesting species of birds like the White-winged warbler, Papyrus Gonolek, Carruthre’s Cisticola etc. today we enjoy a traditionally prepared lunch from the local group that manages this wetland.

Day 9: Transfer to Kampala Uganda.

Return to Kampala via Mubende. Arrive in Kampala in the evening checking in at your previous hotel. FB

Day 10: Entebbe Uganda

Time allowing we shall have to tour Kampala and do some shopping for the crafts then later transfer to Entebbe airport for departure back home and this marks the end of our chimp/primate tracking safari.
