Each of these countries protects its own portion of the Virunga Mountains which when combined forms the 435 Km² Virunga Conservation Area. This Gorilla Safari Will be looking at Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Bwindi Gorilla Park in Uganda for an ultimate Gorilla experience. Day 1: Arrival for our 6 days Uganda & Rwanda Gorilla Safari

Our arrival will be at Kigali, Rwanda airport, you will be met and transferred to Kigali by a Journeys Safari Guides who will make arrangements for your lunch then depart for the Parc National des Volcans (PNV) around. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Gorilla Hotel. Day 2: Parc National des Volcans Rwanda

Spend the day gorilla trekking in the park. Tracking the gorillas through the lush forested slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience and one in a lifetime. If you are lucky, you can get to the gorillas is less than 60 minutes, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families, however, are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when the forest is wet and muddy, the weather in this area is very unpredictable so we always advise clients who sign up for our safaris to come fully equipped with rain gears and good hiking boots. Day 3 Parc National des Volcans

Our Rwanda & Uganda Gorilla Safari gives us different options today; Either enjoy another day of gorilla tracking, again in Parc National des Volcans, visit the golden monkeys, climb the Visoke volcano, or trek to the remains of Old Karisoke. You may also visit local communities or simply relax around the lodge. Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Gorilla Hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Transfer from Rwanda to Uganda– Bwindi Via Cyanika

Drive to Bwindi through the “Switzerland of Africa,” on the road winding through many hills and valleys, with distant views of the volcanoes and lakes. Time permitting; go for a guided nature walk in the thick forest rich in birds, butterflies, and monkeys. Alternatively, look for monkeys and birds near the river below the lodge. Dinner and over night stay at Gorilla mist camp or Buhoma Community Camp. FB

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking

We start in the morning with a briefing about the gorilla before we enter into the rainforest which is spectacular as it offers a dramatic heavily forested landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access for tourists. Recorded mammals here include the endangered mountain gorilla, buffalo, elephants, black-fronted duikers, bushbucks, leopards, giant forest hogs as well as other animals. This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas where the time taken and terrain varies according to the movements of these marvelous primates. The thrill of spending time with and observe the gorillas is a rare moving awesome and exciting adventure. The gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact with each other. Day 6: Gorilla Tracking or local community interaction

Today we have another option of gorilla tracking in Bwindi or taking a forest walk in the impenetrable forest, lots of bird life and other primates can be seen. The other option we have is taking a community walk to learn about the ways of lives of the people living near the gorilla, ho the spend their days, farming systems, roles played by different ages and sexes in the community, how they make the local brew and much more. We later get back to our lodge for dinner and over night stay at Gorilla mist camp or Buhoma Community Camp. FB

Day 7: Bwindi Rwanda onwards

After morning breakfast, we depart the home range of the gorillas and drive to Kigali for our flight back home. End of our 7 days Rwanda & Uganda Gorilla Safari
